Room designs for teenage boys

The teen boy’s bedroom serves multiple purposes. It is his refuge when he needs some space alone, his office, and social area. The décor for his room not only reflects his personality and style but also needs to be flexible and multifunctional.

Tips for creating a teen haven:

  • Be creative and come up with space-saving storage solutions.
  • Take into account his favourite elements and hobbies and design a room with his involvement.
  • Have a chalkboard that covers one wall. If he likes graffiti or doodling, or just needs space to remember formulas, he will love the wall.
  • Alternatively, graffiti against a minimalistic white room looks brilliant in a teen’s room.
  • Colours to look at can be black, blue or brown but try some fresh colours as well.
  • Earthy hues such as pale grey and charcoal combined with striped bedding creates a mature, yet timeless feel.
  • Some distinctive teenage boy elements to include can be a punching bag, miniature planes, or a gaming device.
  • Consider a themed room, if he loves surfing, then surfboards on the wall with a wave on the adjacent wall. Visit our Pinterest board for this idea.

Spend some time with your son and design a room that you both agree with. A perfect space for hanging with his friends, or just goofing around.

Designing a room fit for your Princess

Your baby is growing up with a busy schedule of school, homework, extra murals, and sleepovers. Transform her bedroom into a space that reflects her style and personality.

Tips to transform her room

  • You can consider letting her choose the colour of the walls. If she likes bold colours, then use this for an accent wall and balance it out with two or three colours to give the room a chic, but girly feel.
  • Alternatively, choose patterned wallpaper matched with white curtains and solid bedding. This will give the room a touch of elegance.
  • For a space that will grow with her, go with a muted palette of ocean blues with pops of pink and red.
  • Her space will be welcoming to her friends to hang out with floor pillows scattered, ottomans, or chairs.
  • Take a nice room and turn it into an over the top cool room with a stunning light fixture, such as a chandelier.
  • Have an eye-catching, stunning headboard, or just dress the bed up with fun bedding.
  • Place the homework station in a spot with good natural lighting. Ideally, you’ll only rely on a table lamp when the kids are studying late into the night.

Here are some guidelines on preparing your house for spring and summer

  • Check for any damage to your roof.
  • Clean out any debris from your gutters, and check for leaky gutters.
  • Repair any cracked and peeling paint. A fresh coat of paint not only makes your home look fresher, but it also adds a barrier of protection to your walls.
  • Fill up low areas in the yard with compacted soil. When the heavy rains come, pools of water become a breeding ground for insects.
  • Check on wood trimmings around windows, doors, railings, and decks. Repair any damage before the rainy season does more damaged to the exposed wood.
  • Inspect concrete slabs for signs of cracks or movement. All exterior slabs should drain away from the home’s foundation.
  • Check your electrical outlets for potential fire hazards, like frayed wires or loose-fitting plugs. Check that outlets are not overloaded.
  • Replace all high-intensity bulbs with fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs give off less heat than regular incandescent bulbs.
  • Change your ceilings fan’s direction. In summer, you want your ceiling fans to blow air down, giving the room a breeze, and make it feel cooler.
  • Check the insulation around windows and doors, proper insulation will keep the warm summer air out.
  • Let the sunlight into your home by washing away the winter dust from your windows.

Get your home ready for summer, planning your redesigns or maybe creating an outdoor entertainment area to enjoy the wonderful warm evenings. Visit our Pinterest Board for more maintenance tips.
